All of Me – John Legend: Overview: This project combines typography, color, non- representational elements, motion and a selection of music. Music selection: All of Me by John Legend is a love song dedicated to Legend’s wife Chrissy Teigen. The lyrics describe a relationship that the songwriter knows is doomed from the start, but she is happy to ride the high of the brief romance even though she knows that it won’t last more than a short time. I chose John Legend – All of Me song for a project design, because it’s my favorite song ever. This song makes me feel happy, joyful, and excited. It reminds me to love myself unconditionally. I went with this color theme, because the song reminds me of Disneyland “The Happiest Place on Earth”. Research in color psychology expresses that the colors can awaken psychological reactions that can affect your mood and emotions. The color psychology of red is the color of “love and passion”. The color psychology of green can positively affect thinking relationships and give you the feeling of being “relax and cool”. The radiant color of yellow encourages happiness and optimism in the observer. Lastly, blue calls to mind feelings of calmness and serenity. The font choices were inspired by Disneyland. The font named “Started by a Mouse” by Robert Nava is like the font Disneyland uses for their logo. I used “Started by a Mouse” font for the words “Magical Mystery Ride” a long with yellow to highlight on a red background. The word “Mystery” is inverted to symbolized a path of obscurity. In addition, the words “Head Spinning” font is also “Started by a Mouse”. I used typography to show big and small contrast. Also, the shape of a circle was embeded in the design to add texture. Lastly, the word “Beautiful Mind” font “Luminari” was chosen because the letter “M” in mind resembles a brain (left and right hemisphere). Further more, the color red was used to represent love and excitement when observers think of their mind. Using various styles of this font together will add visual interest while staying with my Disneyland theme. The motion will come from the animation graphics and text moving like a roller coaster for the words “Magical Mystery Ride”. The word “Head Spinning” will spin. Lastly, the word “Beautiful Mind” will stack together in a line.
Star Wars: Objective: Prepared a end credits for a motion picture of my choice. After Effects Technical Objectives: • Implemented intermediate to advanced use of 2D or 3D space. • Implemented intermediate to advanced use of type animation tools and techniques. • Implemented intermediate to advanced use of effects and timing. Movie Selection: Star Wars original trilogy movie focuses on Luke Skywalker’s quest to become a Jedi, his struggle with the evil Imperial agent Darth Vader, and the struggle of the Rebel Alliance to free the galaxy from the clutches of the Galactic Empire. This pitchboard highlights the original movie, and pays tribute to the original cast of Star Wars. The tribute will highlight the original cast in a new design layout, end credits fea- ture. The characters that are highlighted are R2-D2, Darth Vader, and Yoda. Each scene reveals the character and the actor. R2-D2 is played by Kenny Baker. Darth Vader is played by David Prowse. Yoda is played by Frank Oz. In addition, I will highlight the writer, director, and producer. It was written and directed by George Lucas. The producer is Gary Kurtz. The typography used is “Star Jedi”, which has a futuristic vibe. “Myriad Pro” was also used. All scenes uses the Star Wars Star ship. The color psychology expresses that the colors can awaken psychological reactions that can affect your mood and emotions. The color psychology of black is mystery, power, elegance, and sophistication. The color psychology of yellow is happiest and cheerful. Lastly, the color psychology of blue is calmness and serenity. I will make the images zoom in through a camera lens and it will flash to the audience to get their attention. It will show up on the television screen. The end credit design will utilized 3D animation that shows futuristic elements. I will remixed the original soundtrack for Star Wars. The orignial music is composed by John Williams.
ESPN: Objective: Prepared a motion graphics to promote a television, web, or cable channel, sub-channel, or media outlet of my choice. I created a different approach from what is being aired today. After Effects Technical Objectives: • Apply simple to intermediate use of 3D space. • Apply simple to intermediate lighting techniques. • Apply simple to intermediate camera movement. • Introduction to using and manipulating video footage. TV Advertisement Promo Selection: ESPN is a cable network that shows sports. The main audience for ESPN is usually men. Therefore, I thought that I could make a promo that is direct- ed for women audeinces. These images are of women’s professional sports teams and one of the female reporters on the field. The ESPN logo is red. The logo itself reminds me of the movie “Blade Runner”, which has a futuristic vibe. I will use a futuristic background in the promo to celebrate women in sports today, and in the future. Showcasing their courage, strength, and perse- verance. The color psychology expresses that the colors can awaken psychological reactions that can affect your mood and emotions. The color psychology of red is excitement, love, and passion. The color psychology expresses that the colors can awaken psychologi- cal reactions that can affect your mood and emotions. The color psychology of red is excitement, love, and passion. The color psychology of yellow is happiest and cheerful. Lastly, the color psychology of blue is calmness and serenity. I will make the images zoom in through a camera lens and it will flash to the audience to get their attention. It will show up on the television screen.
